Client Spotlight- James Cordier, Liberty Trading Group

With numerous television appearances on CNN Money, Fox Business News, CNBC, and Bloomberg Television, as well as articles published in the Wall Street Journal and Forbes, Liberty Trading Group’s James Cordier has become one of the most highly-sought option selling and trading experts in the world.

James Cordier’s interest in commodities began as a 14-year old with a silver coin collection. His passion for investment led him to embark on a career as broker in 1984 at Heinold Commodities of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was there that Cordier established a his foundation of market fundamentals, in addition to investment trends, and one area in particular – options, where Liberty Trading Group specializes.

Cordier noticed that those who purchased options saw them expire worthless. He set out to develop trading strategies that would enable his clients to receive a better return on their investments, and by the late 1990’s, he began utilizing these strategies with clients.

Cordier became the “go-to” source for insight on commodities such as gold, oil, coffee, silver, and corn, and began regular guest appearances on CNBC, Bloomberg Television, and Fox Business News.

In 1999, Cordier founded Liberty Trading Group, a Tampa-based investment firm specializing in option selling, option writing, and portfolio management, quickly reaching a clientel spanning across six continents.

In 2003, James Cordier co-authored a book, The Complete Guide to Option Selling (First Edition) with Michael Gross, an active broker at Liberty Trading Group, and director of the company’s research department. A second edition of the book was printed in 2009, after Cordier and Gross revamped and expanded their option trading strategies. It remains one of the most popular option selling guides on the market today.
